My wife and I recently started a new chapter in our lives. We lived in Phoenix, Arizona for the past 20 years or so. In early 2012, both my wife and I found ourselves unemployed after many years as a two income household. Like many Americans, we found ourselves in a home that we could no longer afford the payments on with little prospect for finding new jobs in a very tight job market.
We had been discussing out dissatisfaction with the 'urban' experience for quite a while and decided that this would be a good time to change direction and set a different course. After looking around the country at several different locations we settled on moving to Bisbee, Arizona which is about 220 miles south of Phoenix on the Mexico border.
This chapter is still unfolding and we are still trying to sell our home in Phoenix, in order to complete the purchase of our new home in Bisbee. So right now we are sort of stuck between two different worlds. The move was worth it, since the amount of stress is much less in the rural area that we have moved to. There is little traffic, little crime and a much nicer climate.
